Ruby on Rails Developer

At DigitalOcean we are building a cloud provider that focuses specifically on developers. We are an IaaS and run all of our own hardware out of three regions currently, NY, Amsterdam and San Francisco. Netcraft recently quoted us as being the 4th fastest growing cloud in the world, with over 5000% (yes, you read that right) growth since December 2012. We are looking for new members to join our team who are are excited about hand-crafting the best cloud experience for developers, from the BIOS to the application stack!

We are searching for a talented and entrepreneurial rails developer. If you thrive on start up adrenaline, have a nothing-is-impossible attitude and feel you will be able to learn from a team of experienced engineers - come build a startup that is quickly becoming the next AWS.

We have a beautiful office in SoHo and everyone uses a Mac ;) We're a young and energetic startup on a mission to build the world's most amazing cloud platform and we're looking for a rails developer who is passionate about simplifying infrastructure, building a lean UX, and pushing the limits of what web technology allows today.

Desired Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of Ruby on Rails
  • Knowledge of HTML5 and CSS
  • Has previously built web-based applications and can share a portfolio.
  • AJAX and Dynamic Content Development Experience
  • Knowledge of libraries
  • GitHub experience
  • Writes clean, organized code
  • Comfortable integrating APIs
  • Experience developing kickass charts and graphs is a big plus

Qualifications:

  • Very comfortable doing full-stack web development
  • Knowledge of one or more web application frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, MySQL and databases
  • JavaScript skills - knowledge of one or more JavaScript frameworks
  • Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
  • In-depth knowledge of scalability, systems engineering, design patterns, and algorithms
  • Great product sense and design sense; excellent technical judgement and architecture experience
  • Comfortable with QA
