Senior Performance Engineer

New Relic (Portland, OR)

Posted: August 31, 2013 | Job Type: Full Time

How would you like to work with some of the best engineers in the industry, tackle some of the toughest problems, and have an impact on the future of app development?!

New Relic makes it easy to discover what makes web and mobile site site slow down — it gives the same level of insight into production systems you get from a debugger. As a Performance Engineer at New Relic, you will make the fastest possible experience for our customers.

We are looking for a Senior Engineer who has a proven track record of successful performance scaling. This is a big opportunity to accelerate your skills: you’ll be doing performance tuning for the leading SaaS provider of performance tuning tools! You'll be working with both front-end JavaScript and backend Rails code. You'll also be responsible for rewriting portions of our code that need it. But your impact will extend beyond your important tuning and coding work — you'll help the whole team get better at writing more performant code.

Great people deserve a great work culture. We are a Top 100 OnDemand Company, Best of SaaS (THINKStrategies), Top 100 Coolest Cloud Computing (CRN); Best Places to Work; the list of accolades goes on. More important, we provide challenging work, opportunities to learn, high-quality teammates, a great product, a company in “take off” mode, and the freedom to do your work the way only you can do it.

Unlike many startups, we take work/life balance seriously. You'll have time for family and side projects, so you can come to work every day ready to make a difference. And we have a fantastic office – check this out.

A little about us

We are passionate, possibly even crazy, about application performance management (APM). Our mission is to make web applications run better, to make the internet more productive, and to make life easier for developers and devops. We are turning the APM marketplace upside down by providing SaaS products that deliver high-value functionality previously only available through enterprise software. We are well above 50,000 customers. And with your help we’ll get to 10x that number.

Our office is in the tech mecca of Portland, with easy commutes, great views, and a plethora of good eats and great coffee. We provide competitive compensation (including pre-IPO stock options) and big-company benefits (medical, dental, etc.) -- all while maintaining the energy, agility and fun of a start-up. We can help with relocation and are open to H1-B transfers.

New Relic is most decidedly an equal opportunity employer. We eagerly seek applicants of diverse background and hire without regard to race, color, gender, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, disability, age, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law. Note: Our stewardship of the data of many thousands of customers means that a criminal background check is required to join New Relic.
